The Obligatory Valentine’s Day Card
Selecting the proper card on this lovers day can be incredibly difficult, do you buy a card that has the word “love” on it or play it safe and go for that “special someone”? This Valentine’s Day I didn’t have to chose between the two types of cards (not just because I am in love - cue cheesy music), because the ENTIRE Valentine’s Day section at Duane Reed was wiped out…I mean pillaged! After going to two drug stores, I was faced with the most difficult of decisions: buying a blank card with some sympathetic suckling baby bear on it, a birthday card, or one of the three (literally three) Valentine’s cards left. They were all to the most obscure people: my favorite masseuse, hairdresser, etc.
I found this card, and actually fell in love with it. This year, my terrific boyfriend did not get the “You mean the world to me” card, or the ever popular “This is why I love you” one. Instead, he received…..Happy Valentine’s Day Nana. No, I’m not joking. See for yourself.
