I can get weirdly excited about vintage shopping when I travel. I once spent 99 cents on a deck of Yo! MTV Raps trading cards from a dumpy shop in San Francisco and was so pumped by the perceived worth of my purchase, that I snuck out of the store so the shopkeeper wouldn’t realize what a mistake he made. He must not know Ed Lover’s in this!
When I’m out of town I have every intention of doing whatever it is that my vacay calls for (yawning, snoozing, and eating—not necessarily in that order), but I feel incomplete if I miss out on an opportunity to hit up a local thrift shop and dig around for some gems. Yesterday, I scored this 1930s electric Telechron clock from an antique store in New Hampshire. It was $4.50 and the thing works. I’m gonna have to move my trading cards aside to make room for it, but I’m happy with this purchase.
