Another apartment viewing
I’m running out the door to meet Ben and a no-fee broker (which is about as believable as unicorns). Apparently there is a 1bedroom (but I’m gonna go ahead and assume its a studio) for $2,450 in a luxury building on Houston in Soho. Suuuuure there is. And it will be there, where I finally find the magic bunny.

Update
So I agreed to sign on for another month with the company I am currently at. It’s been a lot of work, and I’m realizing more and more how uncomfortable it is to be a freelancer. I just added up the money owed to me; so far I’m waiting on five different checks. I haven’t been paid a single penny by anyone yet. I’m also waiting to hear the verdict on four different...

Can someone take this gosh darn mattress?
Five minutes after my first post, I had three offers for a Queen Simmons Beautyrest mattress. Two of the offers were for $80, and the third offer had so many questions regarding coil counts I decided he didn’t deserve it. Ben suggested I counter their offer. I asked for $100, and they didn’t write back. A few days later I re-posted, and all the offers that came in were for $50. Fine....

Top two buildings so far
I feel as though we have barely scratched the surface in availabilities, but I attribute that to the fact that I typically lead the Saturday apartment hunts. I led us in circles, and actually we crossed the same intersection three times on Saturday. Oops. So from what we were able to see, there are our top two choices. They vary in price about $150 a month (so that’s like a sandwich here),...

I used to be the real McAthlete
I used to be really tough. In my hay day, I nursed five ankles back to health and continued to play on them despite the fact that all ligaments in the left ankle had been fully ruptured. In Graduate School, I continued to play, only to tear the meniscus in my knee. I too nursed the knee back to health, but only after going through an unsuccessful rehabilitation program that resulted in a...

Today I was exposed to the infrastructure of the New York City Rental Circus. As an outsider, you might think “what is that - there is no such thing,” but on the contrary, there very much is such a thing. Today I met Blanche. A 60-something woman (I’d bet all my peanuts that she has spent her entire life tanning) with tattooed eyeliner and an equal amount of lipstick on her...

Another how-did-I-forget-to-post-this memory
[Ben enters bedroom immediately after I Swifter'd]
Ben: What happened in here? Why is the floor all wet?
Me: Uhh, that's what it looks like when you mop!
Ben: Hmm.

I just told like 7 lies
The salad-chopper at Just Salad wouldn't stop talking to me and the lies were just flying out of my mouth
Chopper: You just come back from running?
Me: Huh?
Chopper: You got your running gear on; you was workign out?
Me: Oh yeah (lie)
Chopper: Jogging out here?
Me: Oh no I was at the gym ( lie)
Chopper: Oh yeah, what'd you do at the gym?
Me: Ran and lifted back (lie and lie -- I never lift back!)
Chopper: Yah I do calisthenics at home, I have the ultimate push-up, do you use that?
Me: Oh no I'm weak in that area I don't do pushups (lie, I always do pushups)
Chopper: Yeah you look beat, you're gonna go home and eat and rest?
Me: Yeah, I had a long day, I'm beat (lie, I just woke up from a nap)

I have been lobbying for people to take a stand against Pinkberry from the minute it made its appearance on Santa Monica Blvd. No one believed me. They just thought I was anti-trendy (which I totally am), but as a true frozen yogurt enthusiast (nothing beats Big Chill on Westwood Blvd in LA.; Tasti Delight in NYC is a joke) I am proud to say I never waited in line, ordered, encouraged or...

Amazing Kitchen Gab From Last Week
[As Ben stuffs five shredded cheese packs into the refrigerator drawer]
Ben: Uhh, there is no room - why is there an apple in the cheese drawer?
Me: That's not an apple, it's an onion
Ben: Oh
Me: And also, that's a vegetable drawer

I know where I want to live now
or so I think. Last night I went to Soho House with Ben, Michael, and Ruth. Before we actually went up, Ruth and I walked around the area, and although I have been there a bunch before I decided last night I need to live within a 5 block radius of the 14th and 8th street stop. That means Chelsea or West Village. But then again, last week I discovered Tribeca (west of Broadway) and really liked...

Thank God for the Roman Empire
He saved the day this morning. After realizing I didn’t have a recent copy of my resume on hand (I know, tsk tsk), I banged on Roman’s door with both my fists. I then groveled and promised to get better at Rock Band if he would print my resume off for me.

Things that make me happy: 1. Falling asleep watching The Office 2. Having a really intense leg workout in the gym (I bugged everyone I know for good songs to pump me up. Seriously, the songs on my ipod were so old — I’m talking Rihanna Umbrella old). 2a. Having people move out of my way because I’m a weight-lifting machine and I intimidate. 2b. Dripping sweat all over the gym...

Happy Earth Day
I’ve never been invited to so many Earth Day, Save The Earth, Earth Week, etc., parties in my life. I have so much work to do today, but if I ever finish I’d probably go to: Earth Night at The Park – April 22, 6:00 p.m. Earth Day New York and Green Drinks are hosting a networking party and eco-fashion show in honor of ED, with the idea that uniting the environmentally-conscious...

Rebecca Spottings
1. Rebecca was seen working on a feature story for an undisclosed website. Big step from her last assignment with them….but the story is due tomorrow and was assigned just hours ago. Gasp! 2. She was also spotted in her sweatpants until about 2pm (but to her defense she was NOT on the couch, she was working diligently on a number of stories and saw no need to change). She has altered her...

Finally doing it
I’ve spent the last month or so outlining a book I want to write. I’ve been perfecting it and rolling my eyes at it. I finally decided to start tackling it today. 227 words in.
